Francesco "Ciccio" Merolla is an Italian musician.

Active on the Italian music scene since the mid-80s. After his debut with Panoramas in 1989, he became the most famous percussionist on the Neapolitan music scene. He played with Bennato, Senese, Gragnaniello.

In 2004 he released his first solo album Nun pressà o'sole (Taranta Power / Rai Trade, 2004), a purely percussive album where ethnic rhythms are combined with funky, hip hop and techno rhythms.

In 2008 he released his second album Kokoro (Edel, 2008) where he also indulges in rap singing and searches for and plays an album halfway between sacred and tribal rhythms.

In 2009, the songs "Femmena boss" and "P'o show", contained in the album Kokoro, became video clips directed by the director Toni D'Angelo, and which were broadcast on different national networks.

At the same time as he wrote the audience-winning song for Piedigrotta, entitled "È vita", performed by Gennaro Cosmo Parlato, he received the same year, for Kokoro, the Lunezia Prize in the ethno-musical section,

In 2010 he released the album entitled "Fratammè". In 2012 he participated in a duet with Nino D'Angelo in the song Stella Napulitana.​ In 2009 and 2014 he participated in the charity project REGGAE 4 SHASHAMENE (vol. I and vol. II), an initiative promoted by Elio Fioretti for the Messina Axum (Italy-Ethiopia Friendship and Cooperation Association) with other Italian and foreign artists, including Ernesto Vit olo, Franco del Prete, Rino Calabritto, Sir Oliver Skardy, Davide Cantarella, Madi Simmon, etc., the Ethiopian artists Aster Aweke, Zeleke Gessese, Teddy Afro as well as the group Molise Noflaizone.

 

On July 27, 2019, he participated in the Notte Bianca in Salerno  with Mario Trevi, Annalisa Minetti, Ivana Spain. For the occasion, he composed with Mario Trevi: Indifferentemente.
