BIOGRAPHIE

PETRA MAGONI

tw-36

Petra Magoni is an extraordinary character, a jazz singer who openly mocks musical labels. She likes to flirt with other musical universes, going from Lyrical to Punk or electronic music.

In 2003, Petra Magoni met Ferruccio Spinetti with whom she recorded the album MUSICA NUDA, released in 2004 for the label "Storie di Note" ranked third in the Tenco 2004 prize ranking in the performers category. Their success on stage, during a Live at Fip as the opening act for Stefano di Battista, was such that it led them on a major tour across France and Italy.

The second album, Musica Nuda 2 (2006), Choc of the Jazzman magazine, includes two albums. The first includes the original compositions "Io Sono Metà" and "Le Due Corde Vocali", as well as covers of Brel ("Ne me quitte pas"), Nougaro ("La Vie en noir"), Gainsbourg ("Couleur café"), The Beatles ("Come Together") and Madonna ("Like a Virgin"). The second includes guests such as the singer's husband, pianist Stefano Bollani, trumpeter Erik Truffaz and singer Monica Demuru.

After a DVD Live in Paris (2006) and a disc Live à Fip (2007), Musica Nuda released 55/21 (2008), this time offering their Italian version, with Stefano Bollani, of "La Chanson des vieux amants" by Jacques Brel, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by the Beatles, "Crocodaïl" by and with Jacques Higelin, and "It Had Better Be Tonight" by Henry Mancini, in a trio with Sanseverino. The album Complici that followed in 2011 focused on an Italian repertoire. In 2015, the duo returned with an expanded repertoire in their fifth album Little Wonder, where the names of Bob Marley, Bill Withers and Édith Piaf crossed paths, alongside covers of Italian songs.

MUSICA NUDA's concerts are more than 150 per year, held in Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Greece, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Russia, Tunisia, United States, China, Ecuador, Israel, Montenegro, Canada, Serbia, Albania. There are many prestigious halls and theaters including: Teatro S. Carlo in Naples, Olympia in Paris, Joe's Pub in New York.

Over the years, Petra has collaborated (live and on record) with many Italian and non-Italian musicians: Stefano Bollani, Ares Tavolazzi, Al Jarreau, Bojan Z, Erik Truffaz, Paolo Benvegnu', Antonello Salis, Nicola Stilo, the Tetes de Bois, Morgan, Jaques Higelin, Ginevra di Marco, Avion Travel, Les Anarchistes, Massimo Ranieri, Sanseverino.

From 2009 to 2011 she played the role of the Queen of the Night in "The Magic Flute according to the Orchestra of Piazza Vittorio", a RomaEuropa and Lyon Festival production, a show that was staged in major Italian and foreign theaters (Herodes Atticus Theater in Athens, Carlo Felice in Genoa, Rotterdam Opera Theater, Bahrain Festival, Comunale in Ferrara, etc.).

Between the summer of 2011 and the fall of 2012, she played the role of the elf Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by W. Shakespeare directed by Gioele Dix.

With Pippo Delbono, Peppe Servillo and many others, she was part of the cast of the film "Transeuropae Hotel" by Luigi Cinque (Best Italian Feature Film at the RIFF 2013 - Rome Independent Film Festival).

In October 2013, she performed in Pippo Delbonno's show "Il Sangue" at the prestigious Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.

Between 2017 and 2019, she played the character of Don Juan in the opera Don Giovanni based on Mozart (Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio).

In 2020, Petra Magoni participated in Paolo Fresu's latest album, in which he paid tribute to the creative genius of David Bowie.
